Database Architect

We are looking for a motivated “Database Architect ” who wants to take on challenging tasks while growing both professionally and personally. 

Role Summary: 

We are looking for an experienced Database Architect to take ownership of our Data Warehouse and application databases. You will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and securing our multi-database environment (MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle). If you are passionate about high-performance query tuning, ETL processes, and scalable data architectures, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities: 

·      Architecture & Design: Design, implement, and maintain scalable database architectures for our Data Warehouse and transactional applications.

·      Performance Tuning: Optimize complex SQL queries, indexing strategies, and stored procedures across MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle

·      Data Warehouse Management: Oversee ETL/ELT processes, data modeling (Star/Snowflake schemas), and data integration from multiple sources.

·      High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage replication, clustering, log shipping, and backup/recovery strategies.

·      Monitoring & Alerting: Set up proactive monitoring for query performance, blocking, deadlocks, and resource utilization (CPU, memory, I/O). 

·      Security & Compliance: Manage user access, encryption, auditing, and compliance with data protection best practices.

·      Collaboration: Work closely with software developers, data analysts, and DevOps teams to ensure database efficiency in application lifecycles. 

·      Migration & Upgrades: Plan and execute database version upgrades and cloud migrations (if applicable).

·      Documentation:  Maintain comprehensive documentation of database schemas, configurations, and standard operating procedures.

 
Required Qualifications: 

·      Education: Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science)

·      Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) or Database Architect.

·      Proven experience managing MS SQL Server (2016/2019/2022) , PostgreSQL (12+) , and Oracle (19c or later) in production environments.

·      Data Warehouse: Hands-on experience with DWH concepts (dimensional modeling, fact/dimension tables, slowly changing dimensions). 

·      Performance Tuning: Expert-level SQL query optimization and index tuning across all three database platforms. 

Technical Skills (Must-Have): 

·      MS SQL Server: T-SQL, SSIS (or similar ETL tools), SQL Server Agent, Always On Availability Groups.

·      PostgreSQL: PL/pgSQL, pg_stat_statements, partitioning, vacuuming, and replication (logical/physical).

·      Oracle: PL/SQL, Oracle RAC, ASM, AWR reports, and RMAN for backups.

·      Monitoring: Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Prometheus/Grafana, pgAdmin, OEM).
